This dynamic piece is a highly accurate and detailed recreation of one of an Ice Age carving from a limestone shelter near Angles-sur-l'Anglin in France. The early artists left a legacy of majestic animals in low relief, engraved animal silhouettes and deep engravings of humans. The powerful bison head was cleverly carved on limestone block by using the curved and contours already present in the stone surface. It is one of the finest examples of art from the Magdalenian Period (18,00 to 10,000 years ago). The ancient artist was a skilled observed of nature and permits us to see and appreciate the majesty of the vanished bison through his eyes.
